BA HONS.......Creative pattern cutting

This project was designed to enable us to experiment with various pattern cutting techniques. It also required us to create a toile that was interesting in shape and concept.
I began with my initial idea of creating natural forms and shapes within the drape and lines in the fabric, taking forward the concepts from my F.M.P.
I wanted to experiment with accentuating the female form from the stand and to focus on the soft curves that could be created by draping and folding the calico.
I also wanted to come out of my safety zone of design and ideas, feeling this project would be the one to challenge my comfort. The ideas of curved lines were adapted into seams and panels within my design, to bring a fresh approach to my concept I created a dress that was structural and fitted to the stand. To enthersize the natural form and curved lines, I worked on pleated sections within the panels focusing my interest on the bust and hips.
